Douglas Bennett
Douglas Bennett is CEO of BlueCart Connect, a commercial spin-out of AURA Technologies that brings defense-grade engineering and patented technology to telehealth and the third successful company that Mr. Bennett has launched. Over a 30+ year career he has developed or led disruptive programs in technologies such as AI, quantum computing, digital thread, advanced materials, and complex integrated electro-mechanical systems for defense and industry. For nearly 10 years, Mr. Bennett co-founded and co-ran AURA Technologies, guiding advanced technology projects that secured ~$60 million in DoD R&D awards across a diverse technology portfolio. Earlier, he founded and built Bennett Aerospace from a spare-room startup into a $100+ million enterprise in advanced R&D and federal-services, later acquired by Three Saints Bay. His early career technical work at the CIA and NRO in advanced R&D laid the foundations of his future career. His earlier work included consulting for NASA, DARPA, USAF, and US, EU, and Asia-Pacific commercial clients. A personal highlight in his career was serving as a Study Director for the National Academies’ Aeronautics and Space Engineering Board where he helped shape NASA’s Mars-exploration strategy and review of $2B annual R&D spend. Bennett holds a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and graduate degrees in English and Interdisciplinary Studies (Astrophysics and S&T Policy) from Iowa State University. He is a distinguished alumni of Iowa State and named inventor on more than a dozen U.S. and international patents. As in his career, his personal interests are diverse, including STEM education, mentoring emerging entrepreneurs, children’s safety and welfare, and ocean biodiversity.

Managing Director, Automated Consulting Group
Robbie Allen is a pioneering entrepreneur in AI and AI-applied healthcare. He is a technologist with over two decades of experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing. He founded Automated Insights in 2010, launching the groundbreaking Wordsmith platform that transformed data into narrative content for major organizations like The Associated Press and Yahoo. After the company’s acquisition by Vista Equity Partners in 2015, he co-founded Infinia ML, a consultancy delivering advanced AI solutions to Fortune 500 companies and research institutions. Currently, he serves as CEO of Bionic Health, a healthtech startup using AI and longevity science to create personalized healthcare plans. Allen is also a General Partner at the Triangle Tweener Fund, through which he has invested in over 100 early-stage startups. He was named North Carolina Tech Executive of the Year in 2017 and holds degrees from East Carolina University and MIT.
Steve Cunnion, Ph.D., M.D.

Steve Cunnion, Ph.D., M.D. is a retired Navy Captain, a Senior Fellow at the Potomac Institute for Policy Study, Chief Medical Officer for NeuroRx, a partner for the Diogenic Group, a co-founder of iJet.com, and a Senior Medical Advisor for AURA Technologies. With over forty years of involvement in infectious disease, Dr. Cunnion was introduced to tropical medicine in 1970 as an Army combat medic assigned to the Ministry of Health in South Viet Nam. Dr. Cunnion was the scientist/physician for a joint DoD/State Department Chemical Biological Investigation Team in Thailand investigating allegations of biological and chemical use in Laos, Cambodia, and Afghanistan and assisting the Thai military in malaria and HIV control. He has held other positions as a professor at the Uniformed Services University teaching outbreak investigations and malaria epidemiology and the Director of Preventive Medicine and Occupational Health at the Bureau of Medicine. He received the 2003 ProMED Reporting Award for being the first person to alert the Western world of the disease outbreak known as SARS.
Dr. David Fitzgerald, M.D.
Clinical Faculty, Department of Medicine, Duke Health
Dr. David Fitzgerald is an infectious disease specialist, internist and telehealth provider with extensive experience. He earned a BS in Nutritional Sciences from Cornell University, his M.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania, and trained in infectious diseases at UNC before joining Duke’s faculty. With more than two decades of practice — including extensive work in Africa — he manages complex infections and cares for immunocompromised patients. His telemedicine experience and expertise has allowed hospitals nationwide to access critical specialist consultations; which became even more essential during the COVID 19 pandemic. Dr. Fitzgerald co-founded the Malawi Children’s Initiative after treating seriously ill children there and continues to raise funds for its programs. He believes telehealth can feel as personal as a bedside visit when physicians take time to listen. Dr. Fitzgerald brings deep experience in infectious disease, global health and telemedicine to the BlueCart Connect advisory board.
Pankaj Gupta, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Pankaj Gupta, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a board-certified otolaryngologist and founder of Wake Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists in Cary, North Carolina, where he treats adults and children and has particular expertise in minimally invasive head-and-neck, thyroid, and sinus surgery. A graduate of Northwestern University’s Honors Program in Medical Education and its residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Dr. Gupta is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery. He has chaired the Department of Otolaryngology at the Dean Clinic, served on the clinical faculty of the University of Wisconsin, and acted as an expert consultant for medical-device and pharmaceutical innovators as well as the Wisconsin Supreme Court. Raised in west-central Illinois and now living in Cary with his wife and three daughters, Dr. Gupta brings BlueCart Connect an invaluable clinician’s perspective on patient-centric technology and surgical innovation.
Rafael Millot
Owner, Interlatam
Rafael Millot is a seasoned operations and finance executive with over two decades of leadership across Latin America’s industrial and manufacturing sectors. He is a founder and owner of Interlatam, a highly respected distributor across South America and Mexico. Interlatam is the exclusive distributor for Interface, a multi-billion dollar global leader in modular flooring, and other notable brands. Interlatam is trusted by the majority of hospital systems across South America, Central America and Mexico for numerous product lines. Prior to founding Interlatam, Mr. Millot led regional operations for Interface for nearly a decade. Prior to this, Rafael held the role of Senior Operations and Finance Manager at Chargeurs, a multinational industrial group. Mr. Millot is expert at driving sustainable growth in often volatile markets, streamlining complex supply chains, and leading cross-functional teams through periods of change and expansion. Mr. Millot holds a degree in mechanical engineering as well as a MBA from the University of South Carolina.
Dr. Daniel Roque, M.D.

Dr. Daniel Roque serves as Vice Chair of Ambulatory Affairs for the Department of Neurology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He oversees operational development across UNC Neurology’s outpatient clinics, leading teams of physicians and staff to advance access, quality, and patient-centered care. Dr. Roque pioneered the use of telemedicine across the UNC hospital network to expand specialist neurological care into rural areas of North Carolina, improving access and reducing the need for life-impacting patient travel while creating more effective outpatient evaluations and care coordination.
